Get to Know All-Star Goalie Joe Marra

Are you nervous about taking shots from the best players in the world, all on one field?

I'm excited to be playing with and against the best shooters in the game. Its an honor to have an opportunity to step on the field with the best players in the MLL. I know that I'm going to have my hands full playing against these guys, but I am really looking forward to the challenge.

How do you prepare for a game like this?

I would prepare the same for this game the same as I would prepare for any game. I've pretty much had the same routine since high school so I wouldn't change anything now.

Where is the hardest spot to stop the ball for you? Off hip? Low and away?

For me its always been off hip shots, but in a game like this these shooters are good enough to score anywhere. I dont expect any saves to come easy so ill have to be really sharp for this one.

A two-point goal would tie it all up in the fourth, you're in cage, who’s stick do you definitely NOT want to see the ball coming out of?

I think it would be tough seeing the ball coming out of a lot of these shooters' sticks from the two point arc, Pete Poillon is one guy I've seen this year that has ripped me up pretty good from outside. He has such a quick release the ball is in and out of his stick before you can really react. Hopefully I end up on his team in this game.

How do professional shots compare to Collegiate?

Professional shots are much harder to stop than collegiate shots. These guys are shooting the ball more accurately with more speed than guys in the college game. Plus these shooters are always changing planes shooting from different angles and putting spin on the ball. It makes goaltending a lot more difficult than it was in college.

Are you pumped for the Goalie Gauntlet? Given the choice, who do you think you could burn in the one-on-one?

The goalie gauntlet should be a alot of fun to be a part of. Hopefully the fans enjoy this new event. I've never played any other position but goalie I'll have to work on some shooting so I dont embarass myself out there.
