(Hamilton, May 11)... Four members of the Hamilton Nationals were honored today for their play in the National Lacrosse League. Matt Vinc and Dan Dawson were named to the First Team, while Stephan Leblance and Brodie Merrill were Second Team selections.
Vinc was another reason for the vast improvement of the Rochester Knighthawks defense. Vinc was stellar in between the pipes, as he led the league in save percentage and saves. He came over to Rochester this past offseason in the blockbuster trade that sent John Grant Jr. to the Colorado Mammoth. Vinc was named the league’s Goaltender of the Year earlier this week.
Rounding out the First Team All-Pro was Boston Blazers forward Dan Dawson, who continued to thrive in his third season in Boston. Dawson led the league with 59 assists and tied for third in total points (90). He also picked up 65 loose balls and forced 7 turnovers. Dawson was named an All-Star reserve for the Eastern Division.
The All-Pro Second Team consisted of Stephen Leblanc, Toronto Rock, and transition player Brodie Merrill, Edmonton Rush. Leblanc finished ninth in points (76) and seventh in goals (33), while Merrill led the league in loose balls with 187 and forced turnovers with 30.
