NATIONALS GET REINFORCEMENTS FROM U.S. MILITARY ACADEMY

(Hamilton, Ontario)… When the Hamilton Nationals open their season Saturday in Denver, they will have two players that aren’t strong. They are Army Strong. West Point cadets Bill Henderson and Jeremy Boltus will make their professional debuts as the Nationals travel to INVESCO Field on Saturday, May 14th to battle the Denver Outlaws.

The game will be carried live at 9:00 p.m. on ESPN3.com. The contest will also be televised tape delayed on Cable 14 in Hamilton at noon on Wednesday, May 18th.

“The staff is excited to have Jeremy and Bill for our season opener. Jeremy will fit in well with our offense with his playmaking ability and will make us better on attack,” said Head Coach Regy Thorpe. “Bill is a big strong defenseman that can cover low or middies up high. He's a great ground ball guy as well and will be great between the lines for us. Sol Bliss was his former high school coach and I know they will play great together.”

Hamilton used its final two picks in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft to take the players from Army. Henderson, from Tully, NY, was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. He also earned Second Team Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse Magazine. In 2010, he garnered 2010 Honorable Mention All-American honors and was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. He is the only two-time captain in the 94-year history of Army lacrosse.

Boltus, from Baldwinsville, NY, paced Army with a career-high 70 points and a personal-best 46 assists in 2011. He led the NCAA with a 3.07 assist per game average and was third in points per game at 4.67. In 2011, he was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and a Third Team Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse Magazine. He completed his college career at West Point in 2011 as the second leading point producer in school history (215). He also placed 12th in goals (90) and second in assists (125).

To make room for the two players, Hamilton released attackman Kevin Huntley and midfielder Joel Zalesky.
