FIVE NATIONALS' DRAFT PICKS SIGN WITH MLL

(Hamilton, June 7)… The Hamilton Nationals announced today that Stephen Keogh and Jeremy Thompson of Syracuse University, and David Earl and Kevin Ridgway of Notre Dame have signed with the Major League Lacrosse. Dan Burns, fresh off a trip to the NCAA Finals with Maryland, also signed with the MLL.
Keogh was Hamilton’s fifth-round selection (25th overall) in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft. He won two national championships at Syracuse (2009 and 2010). He received Second Team All-American honors in 2011 after earning honorable mention status the past two years. The 2011 BIG EAST Attack Player of the Year led the Orange in goals (33) and tied for the team lead in points (41). He finished his career ninth in Syracuse history with 133 goals.
Thompson was the Nationals’ first-round selection (sixth overall) in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft. He also won two national championships at Syracuse (2009 and 2010). Thompson was Syracuse’s highest scoring midfielder this season with 30 points (18+12). He also led the Orange with 61 faceoff wins en route to Third Team All-American honors. In 2010, he was a USILA Second Team All-American.
Earl was the Nationals’ third-round selection (13th overall) in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft. He finished his college career with the University of Notre Dame in 2011. In his career, he collected 51 goals, 22 assists for 73 points. He also recorded 157 ground balls. In 2011, he was named a First Team All-American as he tied for the team lead in points this season with 25 and recorded a team-high 10 assists. Earl was also named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year in addition to being named to the USILA Scholar All-American Team.
Ridgeway was the Nationals’ third-round selection (18th overall) in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft. He completed his college career at Notre Dame in 2011. The two-time captain was a key member of an Irish defense that allowed just 6.57 goals per game. He was a First Team All-American and a First Team all-BIG EAST selection this season. In 2010, Ridgway was a USILA Honorable Mention All-American, a member of the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team and all-BIG EAST Second Team. In his career, he played in 56 games and collected 60 ground balls.
Burns was the Nationals’ fourth-round selection (19th overall) in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft. He completed his college career in 2011 with a trip to the NCAA Division I Finals with the University of Maryland. Burns took an unconventional path to becoming a starter, as he went from a walk-on to a senior captain. The fifth-year senior received the inaugural Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award, which recognizes an athlete who helps his or her team succeed in ways that doesn't normally earn praise. In his career, he played in 63 games and recorded four goals, 14 assists and 110 ground balls.
The Nationals will travel to play the Rochester Rattlers on Friday, June 10th at 7:30 p.m. at Sahlen’s Stadium. The Rattlers are giving away autograph books to their fans the players will sign after the game. The game will be shown live on ESPN3.com.
