(Hamilton, June 8)… Rochester Knighthawks Jordan Hall, Cody Jamieson, Jarrett Davis and Joe Walters will be back in town to play in a Major League Lacrosse game Friday night at Sahlen's Stadium. The four players are members of the Hamilton Nationals. The Nats will play the Rochester Rattlers on Friday, June 10th at 7:30 p.m. The game will be shown live on ESPN3.com.
“It feels great coming back to Rochester. The fans are always great. I can’t wait to be back in teal and purple,” said Jamieson.
Jamieson is coming off an impressive first season in the NLL and was rewarded with an All-Rookie Team selection. Jamieson was selected No. 1 overall in the draft and lived up to his advanced billing. The Six Nations and Syracuse star led all NLL rookies with 53 points and was six times named the Rookie of the Week. In April, he was also honored as the Rookie of the Month. He also received team Rookie of the Year honors as he finished first on the Knighthawks with 28 goals and third in points. Jamieson was also selected to represent the Eastern Division in the 2011 All Star Game. At the 2011 Worlds, he was named the Transition Player of the games and an All-World team member. Jamieson scored 16 goals and collected six assists for the silver-medal winning Iroquois.
Hall won a gold medal with Team Canada at the World Games. During the NLL season, the Vancouver native recorded 40 points (18+22) points and 58 loose balls in 12 games. He was also named the winner of the 2011 NLL Sportsmanship Award. Hall was selected with the third-overall pick by the Rochester Knighthawks in the NLL Dispersal Draft of Orlando Titans players. The game is the first time Hall will play against his former MLL team. The midfielder was a member of the 2008 championship team and is excited about returning to play in the stadium and in front of the fans.
“I am excited. It seems like a season ago since our last game. Time off can be frustrating mentally after a loss,” said Hall about the end of the Knighthawks season. “It’s also nice to play in front of the Rowdies. I hope they remember 2008 and winter ball while watching (me play Friday).”
Davis, who was drafted fifth overall, ended the season with his first professional hat trick, which helped him lock up third place in the rookie points with 24 (12+12). The Port Moody, BC, native had 10 points in his last three games and chipped in two points in his playoff debut (1+1). Davis was named the co-winner of the Knighthawks’ Community Service Award.
Walters completed his third season with the Knighthawks in 2011. In five games, he recorded 11 points (1+10). The Rochester native was named the team’s 2010 and 2011 Community Service Award winner. The game will mark the first time that the former Rattler will play against his former team. He was the Rattlers’ first-round selection (first overall) in the 2006 MLL Collegiate Draft. In 2008, Walters helped Rochester win its first Major League Lacrosse title and was named the Playoff MVP.
“The ’07 and ’08 teams were two of the best teams I have ever played on,” said Walters. “The 2008 team was the best team ever assembled. You had superstars like John Grant Jr., Colin Doyle, Casey Powell, Jeff Zywicki, Brodie Merrill, Jack Reid, Alex Smith and the list goes on. To be on that team and win a professional championship for Rochester is something I will remember for the rest of my life.”
In 2011, the Knighthawks returned to the playoffs for the first time since the 2009 campaign. The team ended the regular season on a four-game road winning streak after finishing in a three-way tie for first in the East Division in the regular season at (10-6). In terms of wins, it was one of the most successful seasons in recent years.
