HAMILTON RELEASES PROTECTED ROSTER

(Hamilton, October 12)… The Hamilton Nationals released their protected list today for the 2012 Major League Lacrosse expansion draft. Teams were permitted to protect between 10 and 12 players. The Nats are coming off a trip to the MLL Championship Finals after finishing the regular season tied for second place with a 7-5 record.
Hamilton opted to protect goalie Scott Rodgers and 11 players. The Nationals protected six-time MLL Defensive Player of the Year and 2011 MLL All-Pro Brodie Merrill, and 2011 MLL All-Pro midfielder Joe Walters. Additionally, Hamilton placed attackmen Cody Jamieson, Kevin Crowley and Kevin Leveille on the protected list. The list also included attackmen/midfielder Casey Powell and midfielders David Earl, Jordan Hall and Jeremy Thompson. Young defensemen Kyle Rubisch and Steve Waldeck completed the 12-man protected list.
Players not protected will be up for grabs in the 2012 MLL Expansion Draft, which will take place on December 7th. During the expansion draft, once a team loses three players, they can pull a player back on to their roster. For each subsequent player lost they can pull back another player. The most players a team can lose is six. Players not selected in the Expansion Draft will be eligible to return to their original teams.
Each MLL team will have the opportunity to fill their 40-man rosters in the upcoming 2012 MLL Supplemental Draft, which will be held on December 14th and the 2012 MLL Collegiate Draft which will take place on January 13, 2012.
