DRAFT PICK MATISZ A TEWAARATON FINALIST

(April 26, 2012)… The Tewaaraton Foundation announced the 2012 Tewaaraton Award nominees Wednesday, and Hamilton Nationals draftee Kiel Matisz was among the 25 players selected. The five finalists will be selected and honored May 31st at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
This season, Matisz has tallied career highs in goals (34), assists (22) and points (56) in just 13 games for Robert Morris University. He ranks fifth nationally in points per game (4.31), 15th in goals per game (2.62) and 19th in assists per game (1.69). His point total ranks third best in single-season school history, which is just five shy of the record. Additionally, his 22 assists are second best and are just three off the record. Matisz has already established the standard for assists with 70 in his Robert Morris career.
The team captain is a two-time All-NEC First Team selection. In 69 career games, he has compiled 88 goals, 70 assists and 158 points. The Nationals picked the Stoney Creek, Ontario, native with their seventh-round selection (55th overall) in the 2012 MLL Collegiate Draft.
The Nationals will open the 2012 season against the Denver Outlaws, on Saturday, May 5th at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Hamilton makes its home debut on Friday, May 18th with an 11:00 a.m. contest against the Chesapeake Bayhawks at Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster University.
