Third-year pro Scott Rodgers loves his job coaching at Marquette University, but cannot wait to get back into the cage Saturday night to start the Major League Lacrosse season.
Rodgers and the Hamilton Nationals kick off the 2012 season against the Denver Outlaws on Saturday, May 5th at INVESCO Field at Mile High. The 9:00 p.m. contest will be featured on ESPN3.
Last season, the Notre Dame product was third in the MLL with an 11.46 goals-against average and fourth with a .558 save percentage. He led the Nats, along with goalie Brett Queener, to the MLL Finals. He set the team’s single-season saves record of 106.
In his first professional season, Rodgers played in eight games in 2010 with Toronto and ranked second among MLL goalies with a .571 save percentage and third with a 12.26 goals-against average. Rodgers finished fourth in the league's rookie of the year voting. He was the second-round selection (seventh overall) in the 2010 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.
