WALTERS ONE AWAY FOR 200 AS NATS TAKE ON BAYHAWKS

(June 16, 2012)… Midfielder Joe Walters is one point away from 200 career points as the Hamilton Nationals take on the Chesapeake Bayhawks at 7:00 p.m. tonight at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The contest will be broadcast on www.herbfm.com. The game will also be televised live on ESPN3.com.

Hamilton is riding a two-game winning streak after beginning the season 0-3 and has moved into a tie for fifth place. In its last game, Hamilton used career nights from Stephen Keogh and David Earl to defeat the Rochester Rattlers 17-8 at McMaster University. Keogh had a career-high six points (3+3) and Earl had a career-best five points (3+2). Rookie Joe Resetarits also scored his first two pro goals in his second MLL game. It was contribution by committee in the team’s second straight victory with nine players scoring for the Nationals. Brett Queener earned the win in goal, while recently activated Brent Herbst saw his first action in the final seven minutes.

The Hamilton Nationals made seven player moves this week. The Nats activated Rhys Duch and Roman Lao-Gosney, and placed Dan Coates, Sean Aaron and Dana Wilber on the Practice Squad. Hamilton also waived Matt Chadderdon and Brandon Spillett.

On June 9th, the Bayhawks took first place in the MLL with their third straight victory. With the 15-7 win over the Charlotte Hounds, Chesapeake improved to 5-1. Drew Westervelt tallied a season-high five points (4+1) en route to MLL Offensive Player of the Week honors. John Grant Jr., Matt Mackrides and Steven Brooks all scored two goals for Chesapeake, which fired 56 shots in the contest. Ben Rubeor also netted a goal to extend his scoring streak to 22 games. T.C. DiBartolo earned the win in goal and lowered his goals-against average to 10.27, which is third best in the MLL. Kyle Dixon leads the League with seven two-point goals and is tied for second with 23 points.

Chesapeake defeated Hamilton 20-7 back on May 18th and was led by Michael Kimmel (6+1+1), John Grant Jr. (2+4) and Drew Westervelt (1+3). Kip Turner got the win in goal, making eight saves. The Nationals got three points from Kevin Crowley (2+1) and two-point games from Casey Powell (1+1), David Earl (1+1) and Garrett Billings, all of whom were making their 2012 debuts.

Hamilton is back at home on Saturday, July 7th against the defending champion Boston Cannons. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
