12/11/12 5:31 PM
(December 11, 2012)… The Hamilton Nationals own the second overall pick in Wednesday’s Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft. The pick is one of three that the Nationals have among the first 10 picks.
The Nationals, who finished seventh last season, will pick after the Rochester Rattlers to kick off the Supplemental Draft. Hamilton will also select eighth and 10th overall, as it stocks its roster with 13 players in the 12-round draft. The draft will take place via conference call at 1:00 p.m.
Over 800 players are available in the Player Pool, including notable names such as 2010 United States National Team midfielder Chris Schiller and 2009 MLL Rookie of the Year Dan Hardy.
In last year’s supplemental draft, Hamilton went after homegrown talent, taking Canadian lacrosse players Rhys Duch (Victoria, BC), Garrett Billings (Langley, BC), Geoff Snider (Calgary), Adam Jones (Owen Sound), MJ Kiekabelt (Caledon, Ontario), Dan McRae (Oakville, Ontario), Jarrett Davis (Port Moody, BC) and Dan Coates (St. Catharines).
Hamilton will have another opportunity to select players on Friday, January 11th at the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft. The draft will take place in Philadelphia as part of the 2013 US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion. The draft begins at 8:30 p.m. in the Liberty Ballroom of the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. The draft is open to the public, and admission is free.
