NATIONALS TO SELECT SECOND OVERALL AT FRIDAY'S MLL DRAFT

The Hamilton Nationals will stock their 2013 roster with some of the top players in college lacrosse Friday night. The Nationals will make 10 picks, including second overall, in the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft. The draft will take place in Philadelphia as part of the 2013 US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion.
The draft, which begins at 8:30 p.m. in the Liberty Ballroom of the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, is free and open to the public. The MLL’s 13th Collegiate Draft will be streamed LIVE via MLL's YouTube Channel. Fans can also follow the draft @MLL_Draft on Twitter (hashtags #laxcon and #MLL).
The Nationals, who finished 4-10 last season, have five of the first 21 selections. Hamilton’s first selection follows the Ohio Machine, who own the first pick overall. The Nats also own the 10th, 15th, 18th and 21st picks in the eight-round draft.
Hamilton has scored some key players in the past two drafts. Last year, they selected impact players in defensemen Chad Wiedmaier and Matt Lovejoy, and attackman Joe Resetarits. In 2011, the Nationals’ collegiate draft was rated one of the best ever. That season, Hamilton added Kevin Crowley, Jeremy Thompson, Stephen Keogh, Dan Burns, David Earl and eventual MLL Rookie of the Year Jeremy Boltus. The Nats rode the success of their rookies all the way to the MLL Championship Game.
